Eti Bakır Provides Environmental Education to 7,154 Students Through Its “Environmental Inspectors” Project

Placing people and a sustainable future at the center of its production approach, Eti Bakır continues its efforts for a more sustainable tomorrow. With a focus on instilling environmental awareness at an early age, the company’s “Environmental Inspectors” project visited 82 schools during the 2024–2025 academic year, providing environmental education to 4,448 students. Since its launch in 2021, the project has helped raise environmental awareness among a total of 7,154 students.

As one of Cengiz Holding’s group companies and a driving force of the Turkish economy through value-added production, Eti Bakır continues its people-centered initiatives. Completing another year of the “Environmental Inspectors” project—designed to strengthen environmental awareness among children and young people—the company contributed to fostering environmentally conscious future generations. With training sessions covering 11 topics, including environmental awareness, nature conservation and recycling, the project reached 4,448 students across 82 schools in six provinces: Kastamonu, Artvin, Siirt, Adıyaman, İzmir and Mardin. Since the project began in 2021 at the Mazıdağı Metal Recovery and Integrated Fertilizer Plant, Eti Bakır has reached a total of 7,154 children across all its facilities. Eti Bakır continues to implement the “Environmental Inspectors” project across all its sites with determination, aiming to support environmental awareness among children and young people and increase social consciousness. During the 2024–2025 academic year, 335 students in 6 schools in Adıyaman, 853 students in 8 schools in Artvin (Cerattepe and Murgul), 1,000 students in 11 schools in İzmir, 400 students in 6 schools in Kastamonu, 1,310 students in 48 schools in Mardin and 550 students in 3 schools in Siirt received comprehensive training covering environmental awareness, recycling, water and energy conservation, and zero-waste practices.

Eti Bakır Environmental Director Yusuf Topçu emphasized the importance of introducing children and young people to environmental and sustainability concepts at an early age, stating: “We have completed another academic year. We are fully aware of the importance of raising children’s awareness for a sustainable future from an early age. Our ‘Environmental Inspectors’ project, launched with this purpose, continues at full speed. We came together with children and young people in the cities where our facilities are located. Together with our environmental engineers and students, we continue building a sustainable future.

This project not only increases our students’ environmental awareness but also reminds us of our own responsibilities. In the coming years, we aim to reach even more children and young people, continuing our work on nature conservation, recycling and similar areas.”
