Cengiz Holding’s Industrial Companies Support Recycling with a “Zero Waste” Vision

Eti Bakır and Eti Alüminyum, two leading subsidiaries of Cengiz Holding in value-added industry, shared their 2024 results on the occasion of “International Zero Waste Day.” Both companies, fulfilling their environmental responsibilities, contributed to the recycling of 2,227 tons of waste and prevented 218 tons of greenhouse gas emissions.

Aligned with the principles of sustainable development and efficient management of raw materials and natural resources, Cengiz Holding’s industrial companies Eti Bakır and Eti Alüminyum carry out extensive efforts to recycle waste with the aim of protecting all resources, especially the environment and human health. With their Zero Waste management systems improving each year, the facilities contributed to the recycling of 2,227 tons of waste in 2024 and prevented 218 tons of greenhouse gas emissions. Through the efforts of both companies, 2,004 tons of raw materials were recovered from “by-products.” Eti Bakır and Eti Alüminyum also published their 2024 savings data for International Zero Waste Day, revealing that a total of 5,693 trees were saved from being cut. Thanks to waste reduction practices, the two companies achieved a combined energy saving of 3,820,206 kWh and water savings of 9,385 cubic meters.

ETİ BAKIR PREVENTED 150 TONS OF GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS

Eti Bakır—Türkiye’s only company capable of producing from ore to final product—contributed to environmental sustainability through its zero-waste efforts at its Halıköy, Adıyaman, Elazığ, Küre, Mazıdağı, Murgul, Samsun and Siirt facilities. With an annual production capacity of 70,000 tons of cathode copper, contributing USD 750 million to reducing the nation’s current account deficit, Eti Bakır collected 1,579,509 kg of mixed waste across its facilities in 2024 and delivered it to recycling plants. These efforts prevented 150,537 kg of greenhouse gas emissions. A total of 1,916 tons of raw materials were recovered across the eight facilities, creating a savings equivalent to 886 trees. Eti Bakır also saved 1,468 cubic meters of water across its operations in 2024.

ALL WASTE UTILIZED AT ETİ ALÜMİNYUM

At Eti Alüminyum’s Seydişehir facility—responsible for meeting 10% of Türkiye’s aluminum demand—activities resulted in the collection of 647,212 kg of mixed waste, including plastic, paper, glass, metal, vegetable waste oil and waste motor oil, yielding significant environmental and economic gains. In 2024, the facility collected 282,743 kg of paper for recycling, supported the recycling of 208,410 kg of plastic, recovered 75,722 kg of glass waste, and reclaimed raw materials from 67,385 kg of metal waste. These activities resulted in 88 tons of raw materials being returned to the economy and prevented the cutting of 4,807 trees. The company’s efforts also prevented 67,264 kg of greenhouse gas emissions and generated 2,409,051 kWh of energy savings. Additionally, the facility produced 2,800 kg of compost from cafeteria and landscaping waste in 2024.
